A powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Ecuador has killed at least 77 people and injured more than 500, Vice-President Jorge Glas says. The quake, Ecuador’s largest since 1979, hit at 18:58 on Saturday (23:58 GMT) near the northern town of Muisne. Widespread severe damage is reported, with a bridge destroyed as far south as Guayaquil about 300km (190 miles) away.

  1. Lmao looking at the comments you think it's America's fault the earthquake happened. The majority around the world hate us and talk shit but when shit gets crazy you come asking big daddy USA $$$$$ and wonder why we don't show stuff like this in the news. wipe your own asses for once we got our own problems to deal with

  2. It's sad that America is barely broadcasting this and Japan's earthquake… America would be all over this story if this was Australia or Britain…

  4. My country is devastated, people is still trapped and there are many dead bodies. We are worried about future health issues because of the decomposed bodies and we also need water and food for the victims. If you know of somewhere you can help Ecuador, please do it. We will be all thankful for any help.

  6. Initial images are from a supermarket in GUAYAQUIL, not Quito. Fix it, or clarify it please. In Quito it wasn't felt that strong as in the coast, where Guayaquil is located.
